Pedestrian Crossings


The design flexibility and aesthetic appeal of Humes’ structural precast components make them well suited to pedestrian and cyclist crossing applications across urban, recreational and transport environments.
Precast Arches

Humes’ precast arch system provides a high-performance and cost-effective bridge solution with strong visual appeal, making it a preferred option for pedestrian crossings in recreation parks and residential developments. Precast arches are suitable for a wide range of pedestrian bridge structures, with spans from 6m to 12m.

HumeDeck® System

The HumeDeck® modular bridge system is an ideal solution for small to medium-span bridges, suitable for both new pedestrian bridges and bridge replacement projects. It is well suited to pedestrian crossings over highways and motorways, as well as the construction of access ramps for cyclists and people with disabilities.

Bridge decking

The HumeSlab® system is well suited to pedestrian crossings, as it easily accommodates varied designs, shapes, thicknesses, penetrations and cast-in fittings required for complex deck layouts.

Prestressed Decks and Girders

Humes manufactures a wide range of prestressed bridge componentry, including girders, decks, planks, I-beams and hexagonal prestressed piles. Prestressed products, particularly Super-T girders, are suitable for pedestrian bridges and cyclist routes along motorways and riverbanks. Humes’ in-house engineering team can design non-standard items where required. Humes is an accredited manufacturer of prestressed structures for road and rail authorities, supplying decks and planks (up to 25m), Super-T girders/T-Roffs (up to 35m) and I-beams.

Box Culverts

Box culverts provide an effective solution for instant bridging and have been widely used for pedestrian underpasses, pedestrian platforms over railways and underground access in recreational areas. Humes manufactures large box culverts ranging from 3m wide x 3m high up to 6m wide x 6m high to suit these applications.

Humes also offers a wide range of steel reinforced concrete pipes suitable for pedestrian crossings, with large-diameter pipes from DN2400 providing an alternative solution for underpasses beneath road and rail corridors. SRCP is available up to DN3600 in standard strength classes 2–4.

Uniculvert® Modules

Humes manufacture Uniculvert® modules where the crown and the base slab are cast integrally minimising site work and construction time.
