Irrigation & Rural Solutions
Humes delivers cost-effective and robust precast concrete solutions for irrigation networks and rural water management across Australia. Systems are designed to enhance water conservation, improve operational efficiency and deliver long-term durability in agricultural environments.
Irrigation Supply – Steel Reinforced Concrete Pipes
Humes irrigation pipes are available with Rubber Ring Joints to provide pressure-tight sealing while accommodating minor deflection without compromising joint integrity.
Belled socket joints are supplied for DN300 to DN1800 pipes, while in-wall joints are available up to DN3600 to accommodate greater wall thickness. Pipes can receive up to 90kPa pressure rating within the joint and barrel.
The inherent strength and durability of reinforced concrete provides long-term asset performance with virtually unlimited service life in most common installations. Non-standard strength classes can be manufactured to suit project-specific requirements, with pipelines under large embankments ranging from Class 2 to Class 10.

Irrigation Headwalls
Humes irrigation headwalls are used to divert and channel water into and out of pipelines. A bolt-together headwall system allows flexible sizing and easy reconfiguration. Sloping headwalls and end walls are also available in selected regions.
Custom designs can be developed to meet specific project requirements.
Hume-King Floodgates
The Hume-King Floodgate is an end-of-line, non-return valve that protects pipelines from tidal inundation, debris, animals and backflow.
Floodgates are moulded from fibreglass reinforced polyester and incorporate 316 stainless steel hinges and replaceable neoprene sealing rings. The system provides high chemical resistance, UV resistance and durability in aggressive environments.
Customised floodgates can be manufactured for non-standard applications.
Channel Checks
Channel checks enable irrigators to regulate or stop irrigation channel flow. The bolt-on configuration allows flexible installation across varied channel arrangements.
Drop Boxes
Drop boxes allow water transfer from tail water return drains into irrigation channels and on-farm storage. Units can be manufactured with varying heights and side void placements to accommodate pipeline entry from multiple directions.
Mann Irrigation Pits
Mann irrigation pits house electromagnetic meters used to monitor water flow within irrigation systems. Accurate measurement is achieved through integrated inlet and outlet structures. Solar-powered control systems allow multiple installations to be managed centrally.

Stock Troughs
Humes manufactures a range of precast concrete stock troughs for sheep and cattle watering applications.
Constructed from 50MPa concrete and reinforced with 500MPa N-class steel, troughs provide durability and resistance to impact and weathering. The mass of the unit eliminates the need for anchoring, while concrete’s UV and heat resistance helps maintain cooler water temperatures.
The range includes interlocking feedlot trough systems for continuous layouts, with brass fittings, valves and floats available.
