Secondary Treatment

HumeCeptor® Hydrodynamic Separator

The HumeCeptor® system is an underground, precast concrete stormwater treatment solution that uses hydrodynamic and gravitational separation to remove entrained hydrocarbons and total suspended solids ≥10 microns from stormwater runoff. It is designed to contain spills and reduce non-point source pollution entering downstream waterways.

Originally developed for constrained commercial and industrial sites, the HumeCeptor® system has been expanded to service large catchments, inundated drainage systems and high-volume emergency spill events. It is ideally suited to hardstands and wash bays, car parks, shopping centres, industrial facilities, petrol stations, airports and major road infrastructure.

Independently tested and installed in over 30,000 projects worldwide, HumeCeptor® provides reliable and effective secondary stormwater treatment for space-constrained sites.

Key Features

  • Removes up to 80% of hydrocarbons and total suspended solids (TSS)
  • Sized to achieve required water quality outcomes (WQOs) on an annual basis
  • Independently verified under NJCAT/TARP (USA) and ETV Canada protocols
  • Proven resistance to sediment scour during high-flow events
  • Captures particulate-bound nutrients with sediment
  • Allows for emergency spill storage, tidal inundation and complex pipe configurations
  • Fully trafficable for urban and infrastructure applications
