HumeSlab® Bridge Decking
Precast permanent formwork engineered for faster, more efficient bridge deck construction.
HumeSlab® is a permanent formwork system that combines precast concrete panels with an in-situ concrete topping to create a structurally monolithic bridge deck. The system reduces temporary formwork, accelerates construction and delivers consistent structural performance across transport and infrastructure projects.
Engineered for Structural Integrity
The HumeSlab® panel forms the bottom portion of the slab and provides the working platform from which the deck is completed. By integrating the bottom reinforcement into the precast unit, the system maintains the structural integrity of a monolithic slab while simplifying on-site operations.
Panels are typically 55 mm to 100 mm thick and incorporate specially designed steel trusses that increase spans between temporary props. This improves construction efficiency and reduces the extent of propping required on site.
The system is well suited to heavy-duty bridge decks and localised load areas, and can readily accommodate varied designs, shapes, thicknesses, penetrations and cast-in fittings.

Faster Installation, Reduced Site Impact
HumeSlab® panels are manufactured under controlled factory conditions and delivered in sequence for installation. This allows direct placement from truck to final position, reducing handling and improving crane cycle efficiency.
Panels are generally limited to 12 m in length to optimise transport logistics, with lengths around 8 m often providing optimal installation productivity.
Compared with conventional in-situ formwork, HumeSlab® significantly reduces construction time and labour requirements. The underside face is off-form and ready for painting following installation, eliminating additional finishing work.
