Wentworth Point Stormwater Treatment
HumeGard® HG50 Installation

Background
Installing a GPT Near Riverbanks of the Parramatta River
Located close to the banks of the Parramatta River in Sydney, this project involved the installation of a HumeGard® HG50 stormwater treatment device. The HG50 was specified in the design drawings and selected for its practical, precast form, which offered a faster, simpler installation compared to more complex GPT (gross pollutant trap) systems.
Humes was engaged as the precaster, building on an ongoing relationship with the contractor and as the specified supplier for the project.
Key Challenge
Overcoming Groundwater Seepage and Poor Foundation Conditions
The original installation site faced persistent groundwater seepage and unstable foundation conditions. To resolve the issue, the contractor relocated the GPT a few metres to a stable location. Thanks to the HumeGard’s modular design, the change was simple and required no modifications to the device.

Delivering the Solution
A Rapid 3.5-Hour Installation Despite Site Delays
The HumeGard HG50 was manufactured at Humes’ Blacktown facility using state-of-the-art adjustable moulds. These moulds allow for flexibility in depth and penetrations to accommodate pipes or box culverts, supporting a wide variety of design requirements.
Once the new site was prepared, the HG50 was installed in just 3.5 hours. Although groundwater challenges caused a one-week project delay, the final installation was efficient, and the client was satisfied with the outcome.
This project demonstrated the adaptability of the HumeGard HG50 to challenging conditions, while delivering a reliable stormwater treatment outcome in a sensitive riverbank environment.
