Supporting Growth in a Premium Residential Estate
Brookwater Estate is one of Ipswich’s most highly regarded suburbs, built around the Greg Norman-designed Brookwater Golf Course. For the release of The Dress Circle, Brookwater Residential partnered with civil contractor BMD Group to deliver essential infrastructure, including stormwater upgrades.
With twin DN1500 reinforced concrete stormwater pipelines running through the estate, three large custom pits were required to manage access and depth changes. The largest pit measured 4,100L x 1,200W x 3,200H (internal).
Key Challenge
Delivering Safe, Efficient Stormwater Infrastructure
The civil works required pits of substantial scale and precision. Constructing them in-situ would have significantly increased man-hours, on-site hazards, and storage requirements. The project team needed a solution that could balance durability with ease of installation.
Humes Solution
Custom Precast Pits Reduce Risk and Speed Installation
Humes designed and manufactured three modular precast pits, each supplied as a base, chamber, and lid. Produced at the Ipswich facility and delivered just-in-time, the solution minimised disruption and improved site safety.
- Rapid Installation: Each pit was installed in just two hours, plus one day for grouting and sealing.
- Improved Safety: Off-site manufacture and modular components reduced exposure to construction hazards.
- Optimised Logistics: Just-in-time delivery eliminated the need for on-site storage.
