Steel Reinforced Concrete Pipes (SRCP)

Humes is Australia’s leading manufacturer of Steel Reinforced Concrete Pipes (SRCP) and associated precast products. Available in a wide range of diameters, lengths and strength classes, Humes concrete pipes have a proven track record and can be custom-designed for applications including drainage, sewerage, water supply and irrigation.

Manufacturing & Performance

Humes SRCP are made from coarse and fine aggregates, cement and hard-drawn deformed steel reinforcement. Every pipe is manufactured and factory-tested for quality in accordance with AS/NZS 4058: Precast Concrete Pipes (Pressure and Non-Pressure). Pipes can also be custom made and tested to meet specific project requirements.

Concrete’s high abrasion resistance and low permeability make SRCP ideal for handling peak flows. Natural material characteristics further enhance performance, including an increase in strength in the presence of moisture and autogenous crack healing.

Joint Types

Humes concrete pipes are manufactured with two primary joint types:

  • Flush Joint (FJ): Interlocking joint that allows a small degree of flexibility in pipeline alignment.
  • Rubber Ring Joint (RRJ): Belled-socket or in-wall joint (depending on diameter and application) designed to accommodate alignment changes and settlement while maintaining a watertight seal.

Sizes & Lengths

The standard range covers DN300 to DN2100 (DN = nominal diameter). Diameters outside the standard range and up to DN3600 are also available on request. Humes concrete pipes are typically manufactured in nominal 2.44 m lengths to optimise transport and handling; other lengths (longer or shorter) can be manufactured on request.

Comprehensive tables listing the availability of size classes (DN) are provided in the Concrete Pipe Reference Manual.
