The HydroFilter® system is a filtration device designed to remove fine particles down to 10 microns, and dissolved pollutants from stormwater runoff. After ten years of successful installations and testing across Europe and the USA, this filtration system is now available in Australia exclusively through Humes Water Solutions.

The HydroFilter® system is an underground, precast concrete stormwater filtration solution that combines hydrodynamic (gravitational) and vortex separation, up flow filtration, adsorption and chemical precipitation to efficiently remove Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Total Nitrogen (TN), and Total Phosphorus (TP). The unique design of the HydroFilter® system makes it an ideal ‘at source’ solution for constrained, commercial and industrial sites, as a polishing device and prior to stormwater harvesting and reuse systems.

The system provides high performance with a small footprint
While filtration systems have traditionally required low flow rates and large footprints, the HydroFilter® system can provide high performance without requiring a significant footprint.

It targets adsorbed and dissolved pollutants
In addition to the physical actions of the filter each cartridge has been designed with media components  proven to chemically attract dissolved pollutants commonly found in urban stormwater.

It uses proven, world class technology
The combination of hydrodynamic separation, vortex motion, physical filtration and chemical precipitation processes, have been successfully proven over many decades in the stormwater industry.

It has been independently researched and proven
The HydroFilter® technology has been independently researched in Australia, Europe and the USA and proven to achieve high pollutant removal efficiencies for suspended solids, nutrients and heavy metals.

It minimises maintenance
The unique operation of the HydroFilter® system lengthens the operating life of the filters and maintains performance. The combination of the upwards flow direction, with the vortex motion in the hydrodynamic separation chamber scours the underside of the filters to assist in maintaining a clear filtration surface.

Even though the HydroFilter® system provides proven performance it is still competitively priced, and provides additional savings because it is fully trafficable, and requires minimal maintenance.

It won’t impact on above ground land use
The HydroFilter® system is a fully trafficable, precast concrete solution, so it can be installed under pavements and hardstands to maximise use on typically constrained sites. Valuable land is not lost to stormwater treatment measures.
