David Wheeley, Executive General Manager

Starting his career in the building and construction industry in 1986, David joined Humes in 2001 and in 2006 became the Executive General Manager. He has driven new standards in product quality, process efficiency and the safety and wellbeing of his employees. Under his guidance, Humes has become one of the most customer-focussed and responsive businesses in the Australian construction industry.


James McKay, Chief Financial Officer

James is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) with extensive experience in senior finance roles across a number of industries in both Australia and overseas. Since joining Humes in 2004, he has led the Finance Team to focus on simplification of management reporting, continuous improvement in processes and systems and driving financial performance initiatives particularly in the area of working capital management.


Richard Carr, General Manager Sales and Marketing

Richard is a civil engineer with extensive experience working for blue chip building and construction companies across Australia and North America. Richard ensures Humes’ solutions are not only practical but that we provide world class engineering solutions to our clients.


Peter Coombs, General Manager Operations and Engineering

Peter is a civil engineer with extensive experience; since 1981 his career has seen progression through numerous roles of increasing responsibility across several countries within the business, predominantly within Humes. Since 2009, Peter and his group have been focussed on capital optimisation and operational improvement.


Faiz Al-Sammak, National Manager Engineered Structures

Faiz is an architectural engineer with vast experience in the design, development and marketing of precast and prestressed products. He is also has a strong background in the production and implementation of architectural concrete. From 2003 to 2007, Faiz held the position of General Manager for Humes in the South Pacific (Fiji islands) and has extensive management experience.  


Darren Drapper, National Manager Water Solutions

Darren graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering and in 2001 completed a Doctorate in the same field.  He has vast experience in stormwater management, water sensitive urban design and water quality. He has  worked in research organisations, state government, consulting and industry. His post-graduate research into stormwater quality and BMPs gives him a unique insight into pragmatic solutions for stormwater quality in WSUD.


Wayne Sue Tin, Design Manager

Starting at Queensland Rail in 1975, Wayne joined Humes in 2008 and leads Humes Technical Services. As a Design Engineer in QR’s Civil and Structural section, he gained a wealth of experience in the design and management of road and rail infrastructure. This provides immense value to his team in their approach to infrastructure projects. Wayne also serves on the Standards Australia Committee reviewing the Bridge and Box Culvert Codes (AS5100 and AS1597).


Ben O’Reilly, National Safety Manager

Ben is a safety professional with extensive experience in the sugar and nickel refining industries. Since joining Humes in 2007, Ben has applied a strong focus to the development of robust risk management disciplines across the design and manufacture of Humes products.


Patrick Oliver, Regional General Manager Western Region

Patrick has a degree in Construction Management and a Financial MBA. He came to Humes in 2004, with extensive experience in the manufacture of precast and prestressed concrete products for large resource and infrastructure projects in WA. With a strong backrgound in managing large construction projects overseas, Patrick can provide a solution based approach to your construction and infrastructure projects.


Rob Zeuschner, Regional General Manager Southern Region

Rob is a civil engineer and began his career at Humes in 1978. He has held many senior roles within the Humes businesses and has experience across all major operations and in the development, production and sales of all Humes products. He is also experienced in many pipe technologies that are utilised in plants across East Germany and the USA.


Rob James, Regional General Manager Central Region

Rob is a mining engineer by degree but has a comprehensive background in the precast concrete industry in both the UK and Australia. Rob has extensive operational experience across a number of precast factories manufacturing a wide range of products and can provide input into all aspects of precast solutions for Humes’ customers.


Guido Dewilde, Regional General Manager Northern Region

Guido has a Bachelor of Economics and Executive MBA, and has been with Humes since 1999 as manager of the SEQ business. In 1990, he started working in the construction industry in various countries around the world and extensive experience in the delivery of cost-effective alternative precast solutions for applications in the infrastructure, resources and construction industries.
